Objectives
General objective:
Investigate the characteristics of de salsa in Colombia and its meaning for the lovers of that type musical.

Specifics objectives:
-      Investigate what characterize the salsa in Colombia
-      Interview people lovers of de salsa
-      Discover the meaning of that music for the people lovers to that.

CONTEXT.

The salsa in Colombia.
Colombia:
It is a country of America located in the north-western zone of South America, organized constitutionally like a decentralized unitary republic.
Its capital is Bogota. It has a population of 45 million inhabitants, the third population of Latin America.
The salsa in Colombia
The sauce arrived at Colombia through natural means of diffusion of the pop music. Its arrival was not anonymous  nor quiet, but it was loaded of the natural effervescence that a nuevayorquino musician woke up, veteran of the time of the bugalú, but now immersed totally in the sauce: the pianist Richie Ray, with its singer Bobby Cruz.
With happening of the years the sauce in Colombia has been solidified of such way, that in many aspects the market of the South cone has become important much more that New York or Puerto Rico with representatives like the Group Niche, the Orchestra Guayacán or Joe Arroyo.
Group Niche:
Group Niche is a salsa group founded in 1978 in Bogotá, Colombia. Currently based in Cali, Colombia, it enjoys great popularity throughout Latin America. It was founded by Jairo Varela and Alexis Lozano.
Jairo Varela has stayed with the group becoming producer, director, songwriter, vocalist and guiro player.
Alexis Lozano, later left to form Orquesta Guayacan.

Orchestra guayacán:
The Guayacán Orchestra is sauce an original group of Colombia.
The orchestra is directed by Alexis Lozano who touches to several musical instruments between which they are the low one and the trompeta. The grouping was born in Quibdó, the capital of Chocó, a coastal region of the Pacific of Colombia with a great population afro-Colombian.
Joe Arroyo:
In 1971, Arroyo had his biggest opportunity of becoming a nationally known artist. He was discovered by Ernesto Estrada, the bass player and singer of the band Fruko y sus Tesos (Fruko and his buddies) and signed up with Colombian record label Discos Fuentes.[1] With the band he performed for ten years until in 1981 when he began his solo career leading his band, named "La Verdad" (The truth).
Joe Arroyo became very successful by mixing salsa, merengue, soca, kompa, zouk and other music from the African Diaspora in a unique style that has earned him the prefix of Sonero de la Salsa by renown critics and fans. One of his most famous songs is "Rebelión (No Le Pegue A La Negra)". It is widely considered one of the greatest salsa songs of all time.
At the moment:
 In all the Colombian territory Sauce is danced, especially in cities like Cali, Bogota, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Medellin and Pereira. That is 30,34% of the population, more of the quarter of the population listen to and dance sauce.
